Hello fellow pop music fans!
It’s Bonnie McKee here.
I’ve written THOUSANDS of songs throughout my career and most of them have never seen the light of day. I wanted to take the chance to dust off old demos (some for myself, some for other artists) and revisit them for the first time in A LONG TIME.
Introducing…the Wheel Of Demos! 🎡💿
Let me tell you, the songs that popped up were…a journey. 😂
So, this first demo? It’s called “All Yours.” It’s an interpolation track. Fancy word for “I borrowed a bit from a classic.” The song pulled from “Freak Like Me” by Adina Howard—yes, that one—and the track was all about telling someone, “Girl, you can have him—he’s not my problem anymore.” I don’t typically write interpolation tracks (they are HUGE in pop music right now) but this one felt right at the time. 💅
Here’s one thing I forgot until I heard this 10+ years later: I wrote this thinking it could be for Rihanna’s album that became ‘Talk That Talk’. Spoiler alert: it was not for her. Why not? Well my guess is that she’s always thinking about what’s next and maybe this was a little too of it’s time? ⏰
Listening back, I’m half embarrassed and half still into it. It’s sassy, ridiculous, and kind of fun in a “should I even admit I wrote this?” way. But hey, not every song’s a hit. Sometimes, it’s just a little time capsule of where your head was at. 🤷♀️
So, there you go—my saucy little flop of a song. And if you’re out there thinking, “This is actually a vibe,” well… it’s all yours…..
♥️ Bonnie
